Members gathered at the 1st tee to witness the traditional drive-in of the newly elected Club Captain, John Mannering and the Ladies' Captain, Susan Jackson. Initially a dummy ball was tee'd on a mathematics book, reflecting John's work in the wider world as a lecturer in Strategy and Management Science. However, when John and then Susan got down to the serious business they both drove magnificently.
A play on John's surname dictated the mode of dress, reflecting Dad's Army, and our professional Simon Quilliam made up the trio as the Captain's caddy
The chosen charities of John and Susan are the Alexander Devine Children's Cancer Trust and the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund, respectively.
